Health panel advises biennial mammograms for most women ages 40-74; some disagree

WORCESTER, Mass. — For the month of May, the Saint Vincent Hospital Breast Center is offering walk-in mammogram screenings to the public.

Dr. Neha Modi said screenings are recommended once a year for women 40 years and older. She said these screenings are meant to check breasts regularly before signs or symptoms of cancer develop.

According to the CDC, about 1 in 8 women in America will develop breast cancer.
